BIC is a Batch-Image-Cropper program.
It will read all of the following file-types from a given directory: *.bmp;*.jpg;*.jpeg;*.png;*.gif;*.tiff;*.emf;*.wmf;*.ico
Then it will cycle through all files and show you a cropping mask to crop the images.
It supports freeform rotation of the input images (press f) and a lot of additional hotkeys to speed up processing (press ? for a full list).
It will not change the input images, but save all cropped images to a dedicated “_BIC” sub-directory. Sorting out the results is totally up to you.
Supported output formats currently are JPG, PNG and BMP.
For JPG creation BIC can use sub-binaries. JPGE is used to create JPGs from temporary PNGs, as GDI+ enforces chrome sub-sampling by default and might change colors. ExifTool can be used to copy EXIF data from input JPGs to output JPGs.
If you find any bugs or limitations please let me know.

It works fine at least on the 64bit Win10-1903 machines I tested it on.
Thanks to GreenCan and his Visual Image Crop (GUI), which was the starting point for BIC.
Thanks to Rich Geldreich for his JPGE tool Phil Harvey for his most excellent ExifTool (see binary directories for license and URLs).
Thanks, this is such time-saving software. Though I wish there was a GIMP plugin
I just found this program and tried it.. I found that any folder that it is used on changes it’s properties to what ever it uses as default…? Why…? I like what I can do with it and what it can do…
Hi Assamungus,
you have commented on BIC on my homepage.

I do not quite understand the issue, could you please elaborate and give an example? Is the BIC.exe located in a writable path, so that the BIC.ini file with the settings can be saved?
Best Regards
Karsten
There seem to be no support for unicode – if my input files are named for example with hebrew letters, the program looks like it works properly – but nothing is saved, no output files…it’s a pitty because the rest satisfies my needs…
(“Ist es wirklich so schwer unicode mit einzubinden??? Ich frage als Laie, aber es waere schon schön…”)
Hi Ilean,
thanks for reporting. It’s related to EXIFTool and JPGE, which are both called via a DOS console, which sadly does not support unicode. I’ll fix that in v2, for the time being deactivate EXIFTool and JPGE usage for unicode files.
Best Regards,
Karsten
Does this run OK on Windows 7?
Untested, can’t say as I don’t have a Win7 instance available anymore. Only tested on Win10.
Great Software|
Please add an option to Save Profiles (or a text field showing parameters) to perform the same crop with the same area in different occasions
Glad you like it :). Good idea too, I’ll take it to the list.
Fantastic program in an eWorld that has very little free in-home use selections.
REQUESTS:: To be able to switch image presentation panel from fitting vertically, fitting horizontally, 50%(“scrollable”) to 100%(“scrollable”).
The only error in my case is due to my old OS (98se/XP hybrid), image breaks up as in-program magnifier’s edge hovers by. Tried by 2 friends it has no image breakup.
Thank you for a compact yet very useful program.
Thanks, not lot of batch apps for some reason.
Oh, one more thing. I suggest this fine tuning could be made using keyboard keys. For example, Q makes the selected are +1 taller, expanding from above. A makes the selected are +1 taller, expanding down below. S makes the selected are -1 shorter from above. X makes the selected are -1 shorter by moving the “lower horizontal line” -1 pixel higher. I’m sure you can see the logic in my choosing of the keys. Of course I haven’t checked against the keys that are already in use of anything like that. But I guess you get my point. Thank you once again.
It’s just amazing. I know you have just released it, but for next version, it would be great if you could see a live update of the dimensions (in pixels) of the images that are going to be created from our crop selection. The idea is that if we can see our selection is going to generate pictures that are going to be 1502 pixels high and 498 pixels wide, we can just tweak the selection so we end up with pictures that are extactly 1500 bu 500. OCD is a condition; don’t judge me 🙂 Thank you very much and you can count on me to have it translate to Brazilian Portuguese (for free, of course) in case you want to start offering it in multiple languages. See you!
Wow. This is an incredibly useful program!! I have hundreds of images that need to be cropped and this program is the perfect solution. Thank you so much!
Had the same challenge, glad you like it :)!
